Namkeen Lassi

Lassi is the milkshake of India. Made with cold yoghurt and tempered with either sweet or salty ingredients, it is often drunk after a meal to aid digestion.Normally in every Indian family especially Punjabi's it is offered after the meal in summers they say it keeps you cool and prevents you from the hot summer .There are lot of variations to it but this is one of my personal favorites so starting  here with this and with a little addition you can create various flavors for your tongue..

Ingredients:
  • Dahi(Plain Yoghurt): 1½ Cup
  • Chilli Powder: ¼ teaspoon
  • Salt: ¼ teaspoon
  • Cumin seed: ¼ teaspoon
  • Ice cubes: 3-4

Method:
1. Dry roast Cumin seed on a hot griddle (Tava) till they are almost black. Crush the roasted Cumin with a rolling pin.
2. Add roasted cumin seed, salt and chilli powder to yoghurt.
3. Add ice cubes to the beverage and blend it for about two minutes.
4. Decorate it with Mint leaves(i have used cilantro here) if you have and get ready to sip.

Tip: For the sweet lassi just add sugar to taste and a dash of Kewra essence or Rose essence/Roohafja to it and its jus amazing. ...slurp slurp...and for the Tadka lassi wait for my upcoming recipe.
